A Nursery Worker is required to assist in the provision of a secure, caring and comfortable environment that nurtures the physical, emotional and cognitive development in which children can learn though experiences within the setting and to liaise with families for the benefit of the child outside the setting.

Hours:                       Flexible (decided by ratio requirements)               

Location:                  YMCA Mullion Nursery

Salary:                       £7.83 per hour

The successful candidate should hold a recognised childcare qualification at level 3 or above.  Ideally, they would have knowledge of curriculum planning and delivery and DfEE specification for learning outcomes as well as knowledge of current legislative requirements; Children’s Act, health and safety, and welfare issues concerning children.

The position requires the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced screening through the Criminal Record Bureau screening services.

Housing Support Officer

Salary: £17,725 pro rata (Pay review and award pending)

30 hours per weekMonday – Friday with a variable shift pattern that may be worked over four days.  Some evening work is standard and you will also be required to participate in a telephone-based on call rota.

Based in both Penzance and Carn Brea, Redruth (with occasional travel throughout West Cornwall).

YMCA Cornwall are looking for a Housing Support Officer to work with young people age 16-25 living in our YMCA supported accommodation on-site in Carn Brea and Penzance and in the community.

Your focus will be to assist our residents to maintain their tenancies and equip them to live independently.

You will support a case-load of approximately 12 young people, signposting and liaising with other agencies and organisations as required.

You will be expected to maintain a working knowledge of the benefits system and other relevant agencies and to provide informal advice relating to individual needs.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and be responsible for accurate maintenance of confidential case records. You will collect rent.

You will monitor 12 flats, reporting necessary repairs and undertaking weekly fire safety checks and monthly accommodation health and safety checks.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive housing team.  However, some lone-working will be required and you will be expected to show initiative and be self-motivated.
